On May 5, 2005, the El Cajon Fire Department received delivery of a brand new Fire &#038; Rescue Truck! The $950-thousand Pierce fire rig was made possible through a Community Development Block Grant by HUD-Housing and Urban Development. The new Fire &#038; Rescue rig will be put into service in about 4 to 5 weeks following additional radio communication installation and firefighter training on the new Hydraulic systems, including a 100 foot rescue Aerial Platform system. The grant work was submitted by El Cajon Fire Captain Ted Kakuris. Driving the rig from Ontario, California down to firefighters in El Cajon was El Cajon Fire Engineer Brett Medinger and El Cajon Fire Division Chief Tom Jensen.<br />
