The Burn Institute and the San Diego County Fire Chiefs' Association would like to remind the public to change their smoke alarm batteries when they set their clocks ahead for spring. It's a habit that can save a life!

Having a working smoke alarm cuts your chances of dying in a house fire by 50-percent. If you are 55 years or older, own your own home, and do not have a working smoking alarm, you qualify for a FREE smoke alarm installation! To apply for this free program, call the Burn Institute at 858.541.2277, Ext. 15. The next round San Diego County installations will take place in April and May 2009.
