Apartment Fire In El Cajon Displaces Family

El Cajon apartment fire

For Immediate Release

Date: July 1, 2008

At about 3:30 p.m. this afternoon El Cajon Fire crews responded to reports of an apartment fire in the 8-hundred block of Peach Court. As crews arrived smoke and flames could be seen coming from the second story of an end apartment unit, of the thirty (30) unit complex, at 811 Peach Court.

Quick action by firefighters had the blaze knocked down in about fifteen (15) minutes and kept it from spreading to nearby apartment units. Fire damage was contained to two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, with some water damage to the first floor. There was minor heat & smoke damage to the apartment next door. The four occupants at home at the time of the fire were able to escape unharmed. There were no injuries reported. The fire is now under investigation. Damage to the structure and its contents have been estimated at $125,000.

A family of six was displaced by this fire and are now being assisted by the American Red Cross.

A total of fifteen firefighters were on scene. Assisting El Cajon Firefighters was a crew from the San Miguel Fire Protection District.
