November 15, 2007 - Congratulations to our 2007 Fire Prevention Week Fire Safety Poster Contest Winners. They are 1st Place winner "Olivia Arguilez", of Our Lady of Grace Academy, Teacher Ms. Barry, our 2nd Place winner is "Genora Gonzalez" of Magnolia Elementary, Teacher Mrs. Calhoun and our 3rd Place winner is "Jordan K. Starr"of Bostonia Christian Elementary, his Teacher Mrs. Keller.

From L to R: 1st Place Fire Poster Winner Olivia Arguilez, a student at Our Lady of Grace Academy, center is Matt Kirkus, store Manager with Wal-Mart--he sponsored our contest in providing our winners with Gift Certificates to Wal-Mart--then 2nd Place winner Genora Gonzalez of Magnolia Elementary. Not available for the picture was 3rd place winner Jordan Starr with Bostonia Christian Elementary.

These three students followed all the instructions in putting together their home escape plan and were chosen by our judges, El Cajon Fire Chief Mike Scott and Fire Department personnel.

Our three winners took home some very nice prizes provided by Wal-Mart presented the November 27, 2007 City Council Meeting. All three winners were then invited to ride in the November 18th Mother Goose Parade aboard our big red ladder truck. Our 1st Place winner received a brand new bike and helmet, our 2nd place winner received a $75 gift certificate and our 3rd place winner received a $50 gift certificate. Each winner also took home a gift certificate for an ice cream sundae at Cold Stone Creamery.
