Winter Safety Tips From S.D.G. & E.

Energy is something we all depend on. But, using energy means always taking care to use it responsibly. As part of our commitment to excellent customer service, S.D.G.& E. offers these helpful tips to keep you safe at home this winter.

SAFE HOME HEATING - Now is the time to perform maintenance so that home-heating appliances operate safely. Customers who think their heating appliances are not functioning properly should call a licensed heating contractor or plumber or SDG&E right away. For safety and efficiency, have your gas furnance checked at least once a year by a licensed heating contractor or S.D. G. & E. If you get this annual inspection done before the first cold snap, your heatinf system will be ready when you need it.

NATURAL GAS SAFETY - Natural gas is a clean, efficient way to heat your home, cook your food and dry your clothes. And it's completely safe if you use your head and nose to guard against potentially dangerous gas leaks.

CARBON MONOXIDE - You can't smell it, taste it, or see it. But you can do something about it. Accidental carbon monoxide poisoning from natural gas appliances is rare. However, it is essential to perform regular maintenance on your gas appliances to ensure your safety. Seriously consider purchasing a Carbon Monoxide detector.
